Perennial Plant of the Year 1996!
‘Husker Red’ has rich dramatic, bronze-red foliage that accents the 30-inch tall plants providing a rich contrast to the striking masses of white, airy flower stalks. Hummingbirds and butterflies love this perennial, not to mention being deer resistant. Very hardy, disease resistant and tolerant of dry conditions. Prefers a well-drained soil. It is also a good cut flower. Mass in sunny borders. Accent plant, massed in borders, or as a specimen. They receive their common name of Beard-tongue because of the tuft of yellow hairs just outside of the throats of the flowers which resemble delicate Snapdragons.
