Hyacinth, ‘City of Haarlem’

The Hyacinth ‘City of Haarlem’, is a fall planted bulb. This classic yellow Hyacinth is not a deep, bright yellow color you find in many other flowers. It’s a soft buttery yellow color which looks beautiful in your pastel garden. Will also provide you with an amazing perfume for your pots. Hyacinths are treasured for their sweet fragrance in the spring. The flowers of the Hyacinths have 10-12 inch spikes of star shaped flowers, commonly one spike per bulb, accompanied by sword like green leaves. Hyacinths have uniformly shaped flowers and distinguished colors. They may be planted anywhere in your landscape, in sun or shade, along borders, in groups along a fence or around a tree or mailbox.

Hyacinths look best in mass plantings. All hyacinths are excellent for forcing in pots for early color and fragrance indoors, but are equally valuable as outdoor plants for flowering in late spring.

Planting Instructions: Grow in sun in informal groupings of 5 or more bulbs. Plant bulbs in fall 3-4" deep or 2 times the height of the bulb and 5" apart in well-drained soil with plenty of humus. Remove old flowers leaving as much stem and foliage as possible until they die down.
