Hosta ‘Sieboldiana’

Hosta ‘Sieboldiana’ has bold, round, seer-suckered, thick, metallic blue-green leaves that form a huge mound reaching 5′ if left to mature. This grandfather of large blue hostas is a gem and truly a sight to behold! It is larger than other selections and sure to attract attention. Resists slug damage. Plant may be divided every few years or left undisturbed indefinitely. Hosta’s perform well in woodland settings where filtered light is abundant.

General Characteristics: A near perfect perennial requiring very little maintenance and is virtually pest free. Hostas have a mounded growth habit and are ideal for a specimen plant, border, edging or woodland setting. Performs well in sun but prefers a shady location. May also be used for rock gardens, near pools, and as ground covers. Seldom needs maintenance except to cut out the old flower stalks. Prefers a well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0-6.5 and about 1" of water a week. Do not over-fertilize.

Planting/Care Instructions +

Pests or Diseases: Chewing insects and slugs can disfigure the foliage. Leaf Spots and Crown Rot.

Planting Instructions: May be planted in any well-drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the eyes (tender white or purple swelling protruding from the crown area) are about 1-2 inches below the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly.
