General Information +

General Characteristics: A near perfect perennial requiring very little maintenance and is virtually pest free. Hosta has a mounded growth habit and is ideal for a specimen plant, border, edging or woodland setting. Performs well in sun but prefers a shady location. May also be used for rock gardens, near pools, and as ground covers. Seldom needs maintenance except to cut out the old flower stalks. Prefers a well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0-6.5 and about 1" of water a week. Do not over-fertilize.

Planting/Care Instructions +

Planting Instructions: May be planted in any well-drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the eyes (tender white or purple swelling protruding from the crown area) are about 1-2 inches below the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly.

Pests or Diseases: Chewing insects and slugs can disfigure the foliage. Leaf Spots and Crown Rot.
