Hardy Lily, Trumpet ‘Golden Splendor’

Golden Splendor’ gives you regal, majestic yellow trumpet flowers on tall stems above green, lance-like leaves. Sweetly scented with fragrance that will fill the air for weeks on end! This beautiful lily produces very large flowers that are yellow with dark burgundy red stripes on the outside. They appear in mid-summer. The bulbs are best planted in autumn while they are still plump. They should go in 2-3 times their own depth and at the equivalent spacing between bulbs. In the border, they enjoy well-drained soil in full sun, with shade at the base. Alternatively they can be planted in deep containers, using loam-based compost.

This is a hardy perennial that will multiply year after year when planted in the garden. As soon as the bloom has faded, remove it so seeds do not form. Do not remove too much stem and foliage with the blossom as these are needed to build for the next year’s growth. Lilies prosper in well-drained soil. Avoid damp, moist spots.

Ideal for planting in the perennial garden, in containers or for cut flowers. These lilies are simply stunning in mass and are a great accent plant individually. They are of sturdy habit and do not require any support. Ideal for very exposed gardens

Planting Instructions: Plant in late spring 6" deep in any well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Supply moisture and ample organic material through the growing season and mulch to keep roots cool & moist. Allow stems to die back naturally in the fall. Divide every 3-4 years. Potted plants may be planted any time from spring to fall. Plant in groups of three for best display and space 12" apart. Bulbs need good moisture year-round. Do not allow soil to dry out. Remove flowers as they fade to prevent seed from setting. After bloom, cut plants back only after leaves and stems turn yellow.

When to Plant Outdoors: Plant in spring, after the ground warms to about 50º F.
