‘Legacy’ is great for southern climates. It is HEAT-TOLERANT, DROUGHT-TOLERANT! Blueberries are naturally high in antioxidants! Blueberries are extremely nutritious and have a high vitamin content. The ‘Legacy’ variety is vigorous, upright, and is especially suited for the southern U.S. market. The plants are high yielding and very consistent. ‘Legacy’ has medium-sized fruit with a very superior flavor and sweetness. They are rated as the highest flavor blueberry overall. The quality of the fruit is superior to many cultivars and has a long storage time of around 8 days, if kept refrigerated at about 40º F. ‘Legacy’ is recommended for the fresh market due to the high quality of the fruit flavor. In warmer areas where high-chilling highbush blueberries are grown successfully, ‘Legacy’ is recommended as a late mid-season cultivar, ripening after ‘Bluecrop’. ‘Legacy’ extends your blueberry season!
Set plants out as early as possible in the spring. Prune branches back about 1/2 their length at planting time with no further pruning required the next 3 years. Prune annually thereafter during the dormant period.
