Hawkeye Honeysuckle is a medium to tall shrub native to northeast Asia reaching 10 to 12 feet in height. Drought tolerant and pH adaptable. The fragrant pink flowers are produced in mid-spring and are followed by orange to red fruit. Lonicera tatarica would make a good habitat shrub for birds, providing cover and food. Notes: Hawkeye Honeysuckle is a tolerant,reliable shrub with good flowering and fruiting habits. The fragrant pink, flowers are produced in mid-spring. The red, orange or yellow fruit is most ornamental during the summer. It is a multi-stemmed deciduous shrub and the branching is upright and then overarching toward the tips. It is dense and twiggy, growing 10' to 12' tall with an equal width and the shape is rounded. All honeysuckle shrubs require annual pruning to keep them in good shape and at a good size. Dependable and hardy. Pale pink buds open to masses of white blooms. Lonicera tatarica will sprout back vigorously if the stems are cut off.

Planting instructions: Hawkeye Honeysuckle grows in sun or partial shade and any garden soil. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is about 1-2 inches below the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly.
