The Clematis performs best when sufficient moisture is given and the base of the plant is kept cool. Plant in a sunny location but cover the root zone with mulch or stone. Prune the first spring after planting to 6-12" from the ground.
Planting instructions: May be planted in any well-drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is about 1-2 inches below the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly.
This perennial may be trained to cover a wall, trellis, or fence. The profuse flowering habit will provide a blanket of color over the area of choice.
