Planting instructions: Plant Begonias in well drained soil approximately 1 inch deep. Place tuber in hole, indented side up. Barely cover the tuber with soil and water it once, really well. It is moisture and warmth that wakes the tuber up! The tuber has no roots yet so don't drown it by watering more. Wait to water again until you see some growth or the soil is quite dry. Pinch off the first few buds to encourage larger, more vigorous growth. Water plants abundantly during bloom period.
To advance the blooming season start the bulbs indoor at 65-75º then transplant outdoors when all danger of frost is past. Plant outdoors in the spring, after the ground warms to about 50º F. Tuberous Begonias perform best planted in partial or filtered shade. |
